Sometimes we work in situations that could cause us bodily harm if we are not careful. Our employers also have a duty to keep us safe from harm occurring as a result of our job. In fact, it is the law that they do so.

Michigan State passed a law that protects homeowners who injure intruders using deadly force. Our homes should be a safe haven, the one place where our minds are allowed to be peaceful and void of all worry. Accidents happen when least expected. Most of us understand that being a defensive driver is a good idea while on the roads, but we forget defensive behavior is a good idea at all times. It is important to be aware of the actions of others even when not driving a vehicle.
Recently, a 36-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child were seriously injured when an inexperienced driver backed over them in a parking lot near 23 Mile and Schoenherr Roads in Snelby Township. The woman and child were passing behind the vehicle at the time of the accident.

A two-vehicle accident that closed down U.S. 23 at Six Mile Road on April 9th leaves one person dead and another injured. This was the second of two serious crashes that happened on that stretch of U.S. 23 in less than a 24 hour period.
Earlier the same day, a person was pinned in their vehicle after losing control on the highway and flipping their SUV over into trees on the side of the road.
