What Is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?

Victims of traumatic accidents often develop complications from their injuries that can be extremely debilitating. One type of complication is a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.

CRPS is identified by symptoms such as:

  • Burn sensations in the affected area
  • Changes in skin color and texture
  • Limb pain
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Stiffness of joints
  • Swelling

Improvements Aimed at Reducing Bicycle Accident Numbers

Michigan citizens are injured or killed each year as the result of Michigan Bicycle Accidents. Now, the state and its lawmakers are working to reduce this number by implementing several strategies focused on improving the state’s infrastructure and raising awareness about the importance of sharing the road.

According to records from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Committee, the National Reauthorization Transportation Bill will give more than $22 million to the state in order to build recreational trails, safe routes to schools, and other enhancements in order to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety.

Prior Knowledge of Viciousness Required in Felony Michigan Dog Bite Cases

When dogs owned by Michigan residents injure victims, owners can be charged with a felony crime. However, a ruling reached on Wednesday by the Michigan Court of Appeals clarifies some of the stipulations that must be met for felony charges to be filed in connection with Michigan Dog Bite Injuries.

Grand Rapids Accepts Grant to Combat Growing Number of Bicycle Accidents

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reports there were a total of 96 Grand Rapids Bicycle Accidents and 194 such collisions in Kent County in 2011. Seventy-seven percent of those crashes resulted in a cyclist being injured or killed.

In an effort to decrease the number of bicycle accidents in Grand Rapids, officials accepted a $485,321 grant from the state to be used to improve bicycle safety in the region.
