Michigan Sexually Transmitted Diseases Lawyers Discuss Increase in Infection Numbers

by Thomas Stroble | September 6th, 2013

The Michigan Sexually Transmitted Diseases Lawyers with Stroble Law explain that studies are showing a growing number of Americans afflicted with infections that are spread through sexual contact. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed the number of patients afflicted with some of the most common STDs has been skyrocketing in recent years.

Studies by the agency showed a steady increase in the number of patients who are over the age of 65-years-old being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Researchers found that from 2008 to 2010, roughly 10 percent of all new cases of HIV/AIDS affected this particular age demographic. Some of the common reasons believed to be at fault are a lack of using protective measures and failure to educate seniors about the dangers of such diseases.

Similar results were found in data collected regarding cases of chlamydia and syphilis as well.

This leaves many citizens wondering what they can do to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases. Stroble Law’s team of Michigan Personal Injury Lawyers explains that using condoms during sexual intercourse is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

The firm goes on to explain that if a person suspects they have been exposed to a disease through sexual contact, they should get tested immediately. Doing so can not only lead to quicker treatment and prevention of the disease being spread further, but can also help in holding the person responsible for the infection accountable for his or her actions.
